Bernkopf Goodman LLP is proud to announce that Sheryl C. Starr, a Real Estate, Corporate, and Business Law Partner, has been elected as the firm’s new Managing Partner.
As Managing Partner, Starr will oversee Bernkopf Goodman’s day-to-day operations by working closely with the Executive Committee, the Chief Operating Officer, the Marketing Committee, the Technology Committee, and other key leadership individuals in the firm.
“Sheryl’s track record is impressive. Her business acumen, incredible ability to analyze difficult situations and create solutions for those situations, and her outstanding work with clients and firm Partners make her the perfect choice for this role,” said Neil Markson, Bernkopf Goodman’s former Managing Partner, who stepped down as Managing Partner after having served in that role for over 30 years.
“I am honored and thrilled to serve as Managing Partner after more than 30 years at Bernkopf Goodman. I look forward to working with the entire firm to continue our focus on client service and to explore opportunities for strategic growth and other exciting initiatives,” said Starr.
Starr has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of commercial real estate and business transactions, including acquisitions, sales, financing, leasing, loan work-outs and restructuring, debt assumption, and joint venture activities. She has represented a wide variety of clients, including banks and other financial institutions, car dealerships, equity investors, and owners and developers of retail centers, office buildings, hotels, condominium developments, multi-family residential property, and mixed use developments. Sheryl also has experience in sophisticated financing transactions, including construction and mezzanine financing, loan defeasance, and loan portfolio acquisitions.
Starr, a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania, has achieved an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has been previously recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as a “Top Women of Law” honoree.
“Sheryl continues to exhibit strong organizational and leadership skills,” said Ken Goldberg, Partner at Bernkopf Goodman. “As an effective strategic planner and collaborator, the Partners have unanimously endorsed her elevation to Managing Partner.”
