David W. Merritt Appointed to the YMCA Board of Incorporators

Bernkopf is proud to announce that partner David W. Merritt has been appointed to the Board of Incorporators for the Hockomock Area YMCA.

The Hockomock Area YMCA has branches in Foxborough, North Attleboro, Mansfield, and Franklin and serves 15 local communities across Norfolk and Bristol Counties.

David’s primary focus for the Board of Incorporators will be on increasing corporate partnerships and community awareness about the Hockomock Area YMCA’s many programs and services.

“The Hockomock Area YMCA is a very special place for my family,” said Merritt.

“We have been active members since moving to Sharon in 2011, and my wife, Elizabeth, sits on the Board of Managers for the Foxborough Branch. Our two daughters (Elle (8) and Emily (3)) attend camp at the Foxborough branch, take gymnastics at the N. Attleboro branch, and dance classes at the Franklin branch. However, what inspired me to get more involved was the Hockomock Area YMCA’s response to COVID-19. From food pantry services to utilizing space for remote learning, the Hockomock Area YMCA showed through its actions what true community leadership is all about. I am very excited to be a part of helping to further that leadership.”

As a partner in the firm’s litigation group, Merritt handles complex commercial litigation, with a specialized focus on consumer finance litigation on behalf of financial institutions, mortgage loan servicers, and government sponsored entities. In addition to his litigation servicers, Merritt also advises small to medium sized companies on corporate restructuring and risk management.
